I've A Question Of My Own...

Steven has a wee thing on his blog called daft question of the week. Now not trying to steal the idea but I have got two of my own. I wouldn't call them daft questions, more questions that have puzzled me in the last 2 days. So here they are...

Why is it that we use the word ordinary to describe something bland but use the word extraordinary to describe something unusual? Surely if it's extraordinary it's just even more bland?

What is the difference between mistrust and distrust?

Dunno about ordinary/extra-, but mistrust and distrust:

Mistrust - something that happens to mist when you leave it out in the rain
Distrust - something bad that the homies said about the rust

extraordinary orginally meant "outside the ordinary"
